*The Fender Speed-E Keychain Guitar Tuner is NOT a chromatic tuner. This tuner is designed ONLY for electric guitars and basses, and must be plugged in to tune. This tuner ONLY tunes E notes, but will tune any open or fretted E. To tune an electric guitar for example, one would plug the guitar into the tuner using a normal 1/4" cable and then tune as follows: 1. open high E string
2. fifth fret E on B string
3. ninth fret E on G string
4. second fret E on D string
5. seventh fret E on A string
6. open low E string
